Syed Sukur Ali Shuvo, deputy chief reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Desh TV spe-cial correspondent Mohiuddin Ahmed have been elected president and general secretary of Dhaka Re-porters’ Unity (DRU) respectively for the next one year.
The result was announced yesterday evening on DRU premises after election held from 9am to 5pm without break.
Shuvo was elected president bagging 583 votes while other contestants Shakhawat Hossain Badsha got 429 votes, senior reporter Kabir Ahmed Khan secured 357 votes and Jahirul Haque Rana got 12 votes.
Mohiuddin elected general secretary securing 607 votes while his nearest contestant Mainul Hasan Sohel got 471 votes and Abdullah Al Kafi secured 307 votes.
Shafiqul Islam Shamim elected vice-president bagging 453 votes, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman was elected joint secretary with 757 votes, Mohammad Zakir Hossain treasurer with 763 votes, Khalid Sai-fullah was elected organizing secretary 385, Rafiq Rafi office secretary with 965 votes, Mahmuda Dolly women affairs secretary with 680 votes, Sushanta Kumar Saha publicity and publications affairs secre-tary with 705 votes, Mohammad Rashim Mollah ICT and training affairs secretary, Mahbubur Rahman sports secretary, Mohammad Manwar Hossain cultural affairs secretary unopposed, Mohammad Salim Ullah hospitality secretary with 659 votes, Mohammad Tanvir Ahmed welfare secretary with 867 votes.
Members are Mohammad Habib Rahman with 909 votes, Farhana Yasmin Juthi with 846 votes, Sayeed Shipon with 838 votes, Mohibullah Muhib with 677 votes, Rafiq Mridha with 614 votes, Delwar Hoss-ain Mohin with 610 votes and Mohammad Shariful Islam with 557 votes.
