One Rohingya killed in stampede ahead of Iftar with UN chief

At least one Rohingya was killed and two others injured during a stampede when the crowd rushed to book available seats for enjoying quality Iftar meals with the UN chief and chief adviser at Ukhiya refugee camp, Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

Around 2.30pm, three people fell down a hill as they were caught in a stampede, said Ukyiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Arif Hossain.

Among the injured, Neyamat Ullah was pronounced dead on-arrival at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. The other two – Asmat Ullah, 16, and Kalim Ullah, 62 – are undergoing treatment at the hospital, the police officer confirmed.
