Niranjan Barua dies

Former family planning officer and social worker Niranjan Barua, father-in-law of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Chief News Editor (CNE) Samir Kanti Barua, died of old-age complications at Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital early Thursday at the age of 83.
Niranjan is survived by two sons and one daughter, family sources said.
He was former vice president of century old Bangladesh Buddhist Association, Cox’s Bazar chapter as he was associated many socio-cultural and philanthropic organisations.
Niranjan also donated lands for hospital cum community clinic and crematory for Buddhist community people.
The cremation of Niranjan will be held at his village Manikpur in Chawkaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar dis-trict today.
