Salahuddin lodges complaint with ICT against Hasina

Staff Reporter:

BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed yesterday filed a complaint with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against seven people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina over his ‘en-forced disappearance’.
The other accused in the complaint are- former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former in-spectors general of police AKM Shahidul Haque and Benazir Ahmed, former director general of Nation-al Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) Major General (sacked) Ziaul Ahsan, former DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, and former chief of detective branch (DB) of police Monirul Islam.
The BNP leader flanked by party lawyers Barrister Badruddoza Badal, Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Ka-zal, Barrister Nasiruddin Ashim and Barrister Kaiser Kamal, filed the complaint at the Officer of the Chief Prosecutor of the ICT.
Salahuddin went missing from the city’s Uttara area on March 10, 2015. He was spotted in Indian state of Meghalaya’s hill station Shillong on May 11, 2015. Indian police after rescuing the BNP leader had said he was found wandering on the streets of the town.
Meghalaya police filed a case against him under the Foreigners Act as he did not show any valid docu-ments during his rescue. An Indian court indicted Salahuddin on July 22, 2015 and he was released in 2018.
The BNP leader, however, had to remain in India till August 11, 2024, as he did not receive approval from Indian authorities to make his journey.
