The Brazilian government has congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her victory in the 12th parliament election held on Sunday last.
“The Brazilian government acknowledges the holding of parliamentary elections in Bangladesh on Janu-ary 7 and congratulates Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her victory in the election,” said a press re-lease issued by the Brazilian government on Tuesday, according to a message received here yesterday from
Bangladesh Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil.
Brazil expressed its willingness to continue deepening relations with Bangladesh, in favour of the devel-opment of both countries, the promotion of South-South cooperation and the figtht against poverty, hunger and the climate crisis, the release added.
Brazil-Bangladesh diplomatic relations, established in 1972, have strengthened in recent years.
In 2023, Brazilian president Lula and Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina met on the sideline of the BRICS summit in South Africa.
