The US-based International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) joint election assessment team yesterday held a meeting with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commission-er Habibur Rahman at his office yesterday.
The delegation discussed various issues especially current situation of the national elections. They wanted to know about the DMP’s preparations and measures to prevent untoward situation centering the elec-tions, which will be held on January 7.
DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman briefed about the DMP’s preparations and measures for ensuring peaceful atmosphere during the national polls in the capital.
He said that the delegation inquired about DMP’s preparations and measures, including the security plans during the polls.
The team was represented by Natasha Rothchild, mission coordinator, Ivaylo Pentchev, information en-vironment analyst, Mariam Tabatadze, gender and inclusion analyst, Crispin Kaheru, security and state response analyst, Nenad Marinkovic, security and physical violence analyst, Kazi Shahidul Islam, Bang-ladesh representative and Mir Nurani Rupoma, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Foreign Ministry.
The US team was arrived in Dhaka to observe pre and post-election situations.
