BNP, Prothom Alo complement to each other: Quader

Staff Reporter:

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that BNP and Prothom Alo newspa-per complementing to each other as the vernacular daily is trying to belittle Bangladesh before the world to humiliate the government.
“Domestic and foreign conspirators want to create another seventy-five. Their aim is to rig the next elec-tion and establish an unelected government. Prothom Alo’s news report published the on Independence Day is part of the conspiracy,”
The conspirators will be brought under the law, as no one is above it, he said.
He was speaking at a joint meeting of Awami League at its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue on Saturday morning.
The joint meeting was attended by the ruling party’s presidium and central executive committee mem-bers, president-general secretaries of Dhaka metropolitan north-south Awami League and allied organi-zations.
Quader, who is also the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, said what the Prothom Alo has done is not only an aspersion on the country’s independence, but a criminal offence.
He said the newspaper has committed yellow journalism in a bid to create anarchy in the country. The editor of the newspaper cannot avoid the responsibility of reporting the news with wrong information.
He stated that the newspaper has showed extreme arrogance by not apologizing for the wrong news.
