Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General (DG) AKM Nazmul Hasan yesterday said that they will work with professionalism to maintain law and order during the upcoming 12th national parliamen-tary election scheduled for January 7.
He said this while talking to reporters after visiting a BGB base camp set up on the occasion of electoral deployment at GEC Convention Centre in Chattogram city.
The BGB DG said the paramilitary force will be vigilant along with other law enforcing agencies to pre-vent any sabotage before, during and after the election.
He also said that the BGB will be deployed as a mobile striking force from December 29 to January 10 so that no violence occurs before, during and after the election and they will work to ensure a fair envi-ronment for the election.
BGB will also be active to ensure that voters can come to the polling centers and exercise their voting rights without any hindrance, he said, adding that their dog squad will be used if necessary to prevent sabotage.
Before talking to the reporters, the BGB DG visited the election base camp of Chattogram in Anwara Riverview Community Center and GEC Convention Center.
Senior officials of the BGB headquarters, Chattogram Region Commander, Chattogram Battalion (BGB-8) Commander and other officials were present on the occasion.
