Miscreants set fire to a Parbatipur-bound mail train in Joypurhat on Friday night, on the eve of Victory Day.
The train was set on fire on the way from Jamalganj railway station and reached Joypurhat station while it was still burning.
Shantahar railway police Officer-in-Charge Muktar Hossain confirmed the matter.
The incident occurred around 11:50pm when the train, Uttara Express, was en route to Joypurhat from Jamalganj.
Although a few seats in one bogie were engulfed in flames, upon arrival at the railway station, prompt action by station and fire service personnel prevented any significant damage or casualties, said the OC.
