Barrister Mainul Hosein, elder son of pioneer journalist of the country Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia, an eminent lawyer, who was the chairman, publisher and editorial board of the New Nation and former chairman of the editorial board of the prominent vernacular daily “Ittefaq’ and former adviser to a care-taker government, passed away on Saturday. He was 83.
Mainul Hosein breathed his last at the Evercare Hospital in the capital around 6 pm, according to family source.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Baridhara Jame Mosque at 10:30 am on Sunday. He will be bur-ied at Azimpur graveyard following his second namaz-e-janaza at Supreme Court compound after Zohr prayer.
Barrister Mainul Hosein, born in January in 1940, served as the law, information and land advisor to the military-backed Fakhruddin-headed caretaker government of Bangladesh from January 2007 to January 2008.
