Info commission fines Arani municipal secy

The Information Commission Bangladesh yesterday fined secretary of Arani Municipality, Rajshahi Taka 3,000 for not providing information requested under the Right to Information Act.
The commission also ordered the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi to ensure the deposit of the fine amount in the government treasury and to inform the secretary of the Local Government Division (LGD) about the fine.
Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Dr Abdul Malek and Commissioners Shahidul Alam Jhinuk and Masuda Bhatti gave this order after hearing of the concerned parties, a press release said.
In the hearing, it was proved that the secretary has created obstacles by not providing the information requested by the applicant under the RTI Act.
A total of 11 complaints were put up for hearing yesterday and out of those six were disposed off.
