Govt to import potato to stabilize market

Considering the current market situation, the government has decided to import potatoes to increase the supply and to keep the prices stable.
The Ministry of Commerce issued a notification in this regard yesterday.
Interested importers are requested to apply to the Ministry of Commerce for permission, reads the no-tice.
The price of potatoes has soared in recent times.
On September 14, the ministry set the maximum retail prices of potatoes at Tk 35-36 per kg.
However, the government-fixed prices for potatoes have not been effective even after one and a half months.
