Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain has called for strengthening collaboration between Bangla-desh and Turkiye in trade, investment and defence, reaffirming Dhaka’s commitment to deepen the his-toric friendship between the two nations.
The Adviser made the remarks when a five-member Turkish parliamentary delegation, led by Mehmet Akif Yilmaz, Chairperson of the Bangladesh-Trkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group, paid a courtesy call on him at the foreign ministry here on Monday, said a press release yesterday.
Hossain also sought greater opportunities for Bangladeshi students in Turkish universities and urged Turkiye to recruit more skilled and semi-skilled professionals from Bangladesh.
The Adviser informed that the government has recently approved the establishment of a branch of the Yunus Emre Institute in Bangladesh, expressing hope that it would further strengthen people-to-people ties.
Mehmet Akif Yilmaz appreciated Bangladesh’s management of the Rohingya crisis and described Bang-ladesh as a brotherly nation.
He assured the Turkish Parliament’s continued solidarity and cooperation with Bangladesh in all areas of mutual interest.
Turkiye Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen also attended the meeting.
