Shariatpur: A staff nurse was allegedly assaulted and a chair in a nurses' room was vandalized at
Shariatpur Sadar Hospital on Saturday evening following an altercation over bringing tablets instead of a
required injection.
Police detained the accused, identified as Muaj, a resident of Binodpur area in Sadar upazila.
The incident occurred around 7:30pm in a nurses' room on the first floor of the hospital.
According to hospital sources, Muaj brought his ailing wife to the hospital for treatment on Saturday
evening. After she was admitted, a token was given to her husband to procure necessary medicines and an
injection.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Mitu Akhter said the token was given to obtain the injection from an
outside pharmacy as it was unavailable in the hospital's stock.
However, Muaj brought tablets instead of the required injection, leading to an altercation with on-duty

At one stage, Muaj allegedly assaulted the nurse and broke a chair in the nurses' room.
Police from Palong Model Police Station rushed to the hospital after receiving information about the
incident and detained Muaj, said its Officer-in-Charge Shah Alam.
