DHAKA, Oct 4: The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), the energy regulatory body, has adjusted liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices in line with the new price adjustment announced by Saudi Arabian company Aramco.
In a press release issued today, BERC fixed the price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder at Taka 1,837, raising it by Taka 257 from the existing price.
At the same time, the price of autogas was adjusted to Taka 84.62 per litre, including VAT, from Taka 73.09. The new rates will come into effect from 6pm today and remain effective until further notice.
The prices have been adjusted for October considering the announced average prices of propane and butane and the dollar exchange rate.
At the retail level, the new prices of privately owned LPG cylinders have been set at Taka 1,913 for 12.5 kg, Taka 2,296 for 15 kg, Taka 2,449 for 16 kg, Taka 2,755 for 18 kg, Taka 3,061 for 20 kg, Taka 3,367 for 22 kg, Taka 3,827 for 25 kg, Taka 4,592 for 30 kg, Taka 5,051 for 33 kg, Taka 5,357 for 35 kg and Taka 6,888 for 45 kg.
According to the press release, the consumer-level price of privately marketed LPG at retail points has been adjusted to Taka 153.06 per kg, including VAT. Besides, the consumer-level price of privately supplied LPG in liquid form through the reticulated system has been adjusted to Taka 149.31 per kg, including VAT.
However, as per the order issued on February 23, the price of government LPG (12.5 kg) has been kept unchanged at Taka 776.93.
