Khulna: An alleged regional leader of the banned Purba Banglar Communist Party was shot to death near
his house at Formaishkhana in Digholia upazila of Khulna on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Nasimul Goni alias Nasim, 45, son of A Gafur of the area.
He was a regional leader of the outlawed party, police said, adding that he faces several cases.
Officer-in-Charge of Digholia Police Station Khandaker Sanwar Hussain Masum said two people in a van
intercepted Nasim and opened fire on him while he was going to a nearby tea stall around 11:30am,
leaving him injured.
He was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and recovered three bullet casings and three
bullets.
Police were investigating the motive behind the killing and trying to identify those involved, the OC said.
