The government has issued an office order suspending international flight operations at Cox’s Bazar Air-port until further notice, just two weeks after declaring it an international airport.
The Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry issued a directive on Monday, signed by Shakila Parvin, Sen-ior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry’s Civil Aviation-1 Branch, instructing authorities to halt all scheduled international flight operations at Cox’s Bazar Airport.
“In reference to the relevant memorandum, it is hereby informed that scheduled international flight op-erations at Cox’s Bazar Airport will remain suspended until further instructions are issued,” the letter said.
The directive also advised all concerned not to use Cox’s Bazar Airport for non-scheduled international flights or emergency/diversion operations until regular international flight services are officially launched.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has instructed the Cox’s Bazar Airport authority and other relevant agencies to take necessary measures to implement the decision properly.
Earlier, on October 12, the government issued a gazette declaring Cox’s Bazar Airport as an internation-al airport.
