At least 20 police personnel, including several female officers, were injured when a bus carrying members of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) lost control and overturned inside the Dampara police headquarters on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred as the officers were travelling from the Dampara Police Lines to the Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Sagorika to perform duties during the Bangladesh–West Indies cricket match.
Nurul Alam Asheq, in-charge of the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost, confirmed that 12 of the injured officers were admitted to different wards of CMCH for treatment.
According to CMP sources, the remaining injured police personnel were taken to the divisional police hospital in Dampara for medical care.
Police officials said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
