Govt working for development of hill dists: Adviser

Bandarban: Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma yesterday said the govern-ment is working relentlessly for the development of the hill districts.
“Among the three other hill districts in the CHT region, Bandarban lags behind of development…So, the ministry concerned has been working sincerely for its development”, he said.
The adviser made the remarks at a program organized by Bandarban Hill District Council as the chief guest at district council auditorium here.
Supradip Chakma said the present government is very much sincere for ensuring socio-economic devel-opment of the people of the CHT region.
“The government will make all necessary allocation required for the development of the region.
In this connection, he urged all concerned to work unitedly for improving the quality of education and ensuring sustainable development in the region.
“We need to undertake realistic development projects through Bandarban District Council and ensuring their proper implementation for the welfare of marginal people in the district”, he added.
Later, saplings of different fruits and wood bearing trees, livestock and sewing machine were distributed among the farmers and women in the district. Besides, special grants were also distributed for protecting health of pregnant mother and newborns.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain also spoke the function as the guest of honor with Bandar-ban District Council Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai in the chair.
Speaking o the occasion, Thanjama Lusai said significant development is being held due to the activities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry under the leadership of incumbent Adviser Supradip Chakma.
Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Shamim Ara Rini, Police Super Shahidullah Kawser, Chief Execu-tive Officer of Hill District Council M Nazrul Islam, government officials concerned and beneficiaries were present at the event.
Later, the adviser also distributed livestock, sewing machine among 482 poor farmers and women of Bandarban district and grant in cash among pregnant women.
