BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the interim government has no authority to issue the July Charter Implementation Order.
An “Order” holds the status of law; therefore, its issuance falls under the jurisdiction of the president, the interim government has no authority to pass any order, he said.
Mirza Fakhrul made the comments while speaking at a press briefing at BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan on Thursday.
The press briefing was organized to announce the decisions taken at the party’s standing committee meeting held the previous night.
Mirza Fakhrul has alleged that the proposals and recommendations of the National Consensus Commission are one-sided and being forcibly imposed on the nation.
“Some of the provisions agreed upon by all have been changed without anyone’s knowledge,” said Mirza Fakhrul.
The letter of the National Consensus Commission, regarding its recommendations to the government regarding the implementation process of the July National Charter 2025, states that, in order to implement the constitutional amendments incorporated in the July National Charter 2025, the government will issue an order titled “July National Charter (Constitutional Reform) Implementation Order 2025.”
According to the definition in Article 152 of the Constitution, an “Order” holds the status of law; therefore, its issuance falls under the jurisdiction of the President, said Mirza Fakhrul.
