Saudi Arabia will make arrangements for the Bangladeshis who were evacuated from war-torn Sudan to stay in Jeddah.
Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Bangladesh Issa bin Yusuf Al Duhailan said in a press conference held at the Saudi Embassy on Monday.
He said: “Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has sent a letter to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud thanking the Saudi government for its support.”
About 700 Bangladeshis are being evacuated from Sudan to Jeddah due to the war situation.
The Saudi ambassador further said: “Saudi Arabia is working to evacuate the citizens of Saudi Arabia and other countries from Sudan.”
He said: “So far, 6,000 people from about 100 countries have been rescued. They are given accommodation in hotels, military and civilian buildings. At the same time they have been given visas. We are assisting people from Sudan to return to their respective countries.”
“Those who are not going back to their country, they are also being arranged to stay in Saudi Arabia without money,” he added.
As many as 58,000 Sudanese, who are staying in Saudi Arabia for Umrah and other purposes, have also been allowed to stay, he said.
