Covid vaccination made mandatory for Hajj pilgrims

A Correspondent:

The government has made Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for Hajj pilgrims this year.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has ordered all pilgrims across Bangladesh to get vaccinated against Covid-19, as the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs of Saudia Arabia has declared it mandatory.

This announcement has been made in a notification signed by Abul Kashem Muhammad Shaheen, deputy secretary of the Hajj-1 branch of the ministry on Friday.

According to the notification, the registration process of the pilgrims of 2023 has already been completed. Hajj flights are scheduled to start on May 21.

Therefore, the ministry requests to start the vaccination process for Hajj pilgrims from May 6, said the notification.

Meanwhile, based on the news received from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs’ Twitter account every pilgrim must get vaccinated at least 10 days before applying for Hajj and attach a copy of the vaccination certificate to the application form.

If an applicant does not do so, they will not be permitted to perform Hajj, the Tweet said.

Hajj will start on June 27 or 28 this year depending on the sighting of the moon.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will start the verification of the applications of those who have applied for Hajj this year from May 5.
