Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has reassigned M Tanvir Ahmed, who was in charge of the se-curity division at Bangladesh Secretariat, as the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Public Order Man-agement (POM) of South Division.
Mohammad Billal Hossain has been appointed as the new DC responsible for security at Bangla-desh Secretariat.
A DMP office order, signed by its Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali was issued on Sunday (December 29) in this regard following a devastating fire broke out at number 7 building at the Secretariat in the early hours of December 25 last.
A total of 19 fire fighting units doused the flame after 10 hours of frantic efforts at 8:05am on De-cember 25.
Several probe committees including an eight-member high-powered committee led by Senior Sec-retary of the Home Ministry have been formed to find out the cause of fire and ascertain its dam-age.
