BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Thursday that there is no alternative to cracking down on miscreants with a firm hand to curb crime in the country.
“Horrific incidents are being orchestrated to put the interim government in trouble. Therefore, there is no alternative to suppressing these miscreants with a firm hand. To achieve this, everyone in the country must remain united. Otherwise, fascist forces will rise once again,” he said in a written statement.
His statement came following the killing of Md Nasir Uddin, organising secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram, in the evening of 26 March.
“Nasir Uddin was brutally murdered by armed miscreants in a barbaric attack. Following the fall of the Awami League dictatorship in the student-public movement, miscreants are once again creating instability in the country,” Mirza Fakhrul added.
He further stated that miscreants were engaged in the “evil act” of reaping benefits by creating anarchy. “The murder of Nasir Uddin in such a brutal and demonic attack is a clear manifestation of that evil act.”
The BNP secretary general urged people from all classes and professions, irrespective of political affiliation, to remain united in protecting lives and property, as well as in establishing democracy and ensuring people’s right to vote.
“Otherwise, the lurking followers of the Awami fascists will become desperate to endanger the very existence of the country,” he warned.
Mirza Fakhrul called for the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for Nasir Uddin’s murder.
