Govt can’t avoid responsibility for fire accidents: JaPa

Staff Reporter:

The government cannot avoid taking responsibility for accidents such as the recent fire at the New Su-permarket, Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Muhammad Quader said on Sunday.
He accused the government of trying to cover up their failure by blaming politics and urged them to acknowledge their own shortcomings.
Quader also criticized the government for their lack of understanding of the suffering of the people af-fected by the fire.
He emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to prevent vandalism and ensure the security of people’s lives. He expressed concern that the government’s preemptive accusations were causing shock and anxiety among common people.
The opposition leader demanded that each statement be supported by factual evidence and called for transparency in the government’s measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
Speaking to journalists after visiting the New SuperMarket, he expressed his condolences to the victims and called on the government to compensate them.
He criticized the government for failing to fulfill their responsibilities towards the poor and for legiti-mizing risky buildings through corruption and illegality.
Quader also raised concerns about the government’s lack of focus on the security of the country and the people.
He stated that various forces and intelligence agencies were being used to protect the government, but not enough was being done to protect the interests of the people.
Quader concluded by emphasizing that all public representatives and government officials have a respon-sibility to protect the interests of the people and that they must take this responsibility seriously.
