Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and valiant freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury was laid to eternal rest on Friday afternoon.
He was interred near the main gate of Gonoshasthaya Kendra in Savar after Jumma prayers.
Before that, people from all walks of life paid their last respects to him at Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s PHA field from 10am to 12:30pm.
Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury breathed his last at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka late Tuesday.
Zafrullah was transported to Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, after becoming seriously ill on April 5.
A medical board of notable physicians was formed on April 7 for his treatment.
He was put on life support on Monday after his condition deteriorated.
The noted physician had also been politically active for the past few years, although he was relatively inactive in politics this year.
He is survived by his wife, son, daughter and scores of well-wishers.
