Arakan Army (AA), the Myanmar rebel armed forces, are engaged in continuing fighting against the junta forces in the Rakhine state.
In the face of intense attack from the rebels, the members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) are fleeing to Bangladesh.
On Friday, 11 more members of the BGP entered Bangladesh through the Teknaf border of Cox’s Bazar, seeking refuge amidst the ongoing conflict in the neighboring country.
Official sources said the BGP members entered Bangladesh, crossing the Naf River, and surrendered to the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG).
Earlier on Thursday, 13 members of the BGP entered Bangladesh through the Teknaf border and took refuge amid the prevailing unrest in Myanmar.
Later, the Coast Guard handed them over to the Naikhongchhari Battalion of the Border Guard of Bangladesh (11 BGB).
With this, the number of BGP men taking refuge in Bangladesh stood at 285, said the source.
Meanwhile, a foreign ministry source said that Dhaka will send the Myanmar security personnel back on 22 April by ship.
