Health camp at Udayan School held

Staff Reporter:

A day-long health camp was organized by Dnet at Udayan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya with technical support of UNICEF Bangladesh on Saturday.
The initiative is supported by the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and the Ministry of Education (MoE). Representatives from the above-mentioned organizations and government bodies were present at the occasion.
Bangladesh has one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing adolescent populations; therefore, the government has taken some necessary steps in the past few years to recognize adolescent healthcare as one of their top priorities. However, it has been observed that there are fewer interventions in terms of knowledge sharing or service-seeking activities conducted for urban adolescents than for rural adoles-cents at the national level.
To address the situation by supporting the government’s effort to safeguard the aforementioned target group, DNET and UNICEF decided to organize the health camps for urban school adolescents.
The health camp introduced a national adolescent health website and mobile app. It conducted basic physical examinations, including eye check-ups, and provided awareness on sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, child marriage, hygiene, and mental health amongst the students of class six to ten.
Additionally, DNET gave an overview of the national adolescent health website and responded to rele-vant queries from the participating students.
Principal of Udayan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya Jahura Begum; Joint director of Dnet Md Monjur Hossain; and DGFP’s Asif Ahmed Tonmoy, among others, spoke.
