A total of 1,179 aspirants have collected nomination forms from Jatiya Party (JaPa) in two days to get party nomination to contest in the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls scheduled to be held on January 7, 2024.
“A total of 622 aspirants have collected nomination forms yesterday, reaching the total number 1,179,” JaPa Secretary General Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu told journalists yesterday.
On Monday, 557 aspirants collected nomination forms, he said.
Chunnu said JaPa believes that it is impossible to bring change to state power without elections. The polls are approaching for sake of protecting constitutional continuity, he said, adding, “We urged the authorities concerned to hold a fair and credible election.”
Noting that JaPa will contest in 300 constituencies in the polls, “JaPa Chairman GM Quader will take the decision regarding taking part in the polls”.
Earlier, JaPa started selling party nomination forms among the aspirant candidates on Monday.
