Chattogram: At least three people were killed and three others injured as a covered van crashed into a stationary mini truck and an auto-rickshaw in Sufia Road area under Mirsarai upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Iqbal Hossain, 45, Mohammad Farid, 42, and Shahidul Islam, 38, all hailed from ward no-1 of Mirsarai Municipality area.
Enayet Hossain Mitu, general secretary of Mirsarai Press Club said the accident occurred on the Chatto-gram-Dhaka highway when a Chattogram-bound covered van rammed into a standing mini truck and an auto rickshaw leaving two people dead on the spot and four others injured.
Of the injured, Shahidul died on the way to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge of Jorarganj Highway Thana Sohel Sarker said police arrested the covered van driver.
