The schedule for the local government election will be finalized at the Election Commission’s (EC) preparatory meeting with various ministries, divisions and authorities on September 17, EC Secre-tariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said yesterday.
He disclosed the information to journalists at the Election Building in the capital’s Agargaon, say-ing “On September 17, we will hold a meeting with the stakeholders concerned, officials from vari-ous ministries, and those directly involved in the election voting activities. Based on the input after this meeting, the Commission will finalize the schedule (for the local government election).”
He said updated information on the matter would be shared again on September 17, adding that the Commission would brief on the issue only after receiving input at the meeting.
The EC’s preparatory meeting with various ministries, divisions and authorities, in connection with the local government election and the Thakurgaon-1 constituency by-election, will take place on Thursday, September 17.
