Staff Reporter:
Students from Dhaka Residential Model College visited the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday to observe a parliamentary session, where they were warmly greeted by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Around 150 students from classes six to eleven took part in the visit. They were seated in the oath room of the Parliament building, where they received a brief presentation on the architectural design of the parliament building and the legislative process.
During the interaction, the prime minister, who also serves as the Leader of the House, shared a personal connection with the visiting students.
“I was a student of Residential Model College, and my brother Arafat Rahman Koko was also a student of this institution,” he said.
He expressed his best wishes for the students’ future success and encouraged them to contribute to nation-building.
Following the exchange, PM Tarique greeted the students and teachers and posed for photographs with them.
It is worth noting that, to inspire patriotism among children and provide them with an understanding of the lawmaking process, the education minister had earlier requested the speaker to allocate a total of 150 seats in parliament, including 50 specifically reserved for children.
As part of this initiative, students regularly visit parliament.
Since the prime minister was scheduled to deliver a speech in parliament on the day, he invited students from his alma mater through the education minister to attend the session.
