A Dhaka court on Friday placed former DGFI director and dismissed lieutenant colonel Md Afzal Naser on a further three-day remand in connection with the murder of Delwar Hossain in the Mirpur Model Police Station area of the capital, linked to the July movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order after the investigation officer of the case, Detective Branch (DB) police sub-inspector Kafil Uddin, produced the accused before the court and sought a fresh five-day remand, state prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed.
Earlier in the day, Afzal Naser was produced before the court after completing 18 days of remand in five phases.
According to the remand plea, sufficient evidence has been found during the preliminary investigation regarding the suspect’s involvement in the incident. Five days of intensive police interrogation are necessary to uncover key aspects of the case and ensure a proper investigation.
