Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has recalled the contributions of drama actors in the history of the country, from language movement to liberation war.
“Drama reflects the society, state and history as well. It means a mirror of the society. We found upfront contributions of actors in all mass movement including global liberation war,” Dr Shirin Sharmin said while addressing a programme as chief guest at Shilpakala Academy in the capital on Friday.
Theatre troupe Padatik Natya Sangsad (TSC) organised the drama festival.
Speaker believes that contributions of drama actors to liberation war will be remembered for ever.
Dr Shirin mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working for flourishing the culture in the country while government has a fund worth Tk 500 million for welfare of distress actor and actresses.
Parliament Speaker later announced the opening of Syed Badruddin Hossain Smrity Natyautsab at the theatre of Shilpakala Academy.
Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed and Cultural Affairs State Minister KM Khalid were special guests on the occasion while festival convener Syed Tasnin Hossain Tanu presided over the session.
