Police arrested a total of 47 people during day-long special drives in different crime-prone areas under Pallabi, Uttara East and Uttara West police stations in the capital on Tuesday.
According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Uttara East Police Station conducted a special operation in its jurisdiction and arrested 16 people including notorious criminal Md Altaf alias “Thot Kata Altaf”, who is accused in 22 lawsuits.
The others arrestees were identified as Saiful Islam, 37, Md Amir Hossain Firoz, 47, Rawshan Mia, 33, Sifat Mia, 19, Baijid Mia, 22, Kazi Sadman, 25, Raihan Hossain, 24, Mohammad Humayun Kabir, 42, Md Raihan, 31, Md Firozur Rahman, 45, Mohammad Faruk, 42, Md Imran Hossain, 45, Saidul Alam, 27, Jannatul Mawa alias Rodshi Sarkar, 25, and Taslima, 40.
Police said the arrestees include regular case accused, warrant-listed suspects and individuals involved in various criminal activities. They were produced before a court following their arrest.
Meanwhile, Pallabi and Uttara West police stations arrested 31 more people in separate operations carried out in their respective areas on the same day.
Pallabi police arrested 17 people from different locations under the station area.
On the other hand, Uttara West police arrested 14 people during drives in different areas.
Police said all of them were sent to the courts.
Police sources said such special operations will continue to maintain law and order in the capital.
