Mild heat wave may continue

Bangladesh Meteorological Department yesterday predicted the ongoing mild heat wave is likely to con-tinue at six places across the country today.
“Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Manikganj, Rangpur, Sayedpur and Patuakhali and it may continue, “said the weather bulletin issued this morning.
“Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to excessive moisture, discomfort may persist,” it added.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Barisal divisions and at one or two places over Khulna division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions,” it added.
Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 38.7 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi. While, yes-terday’s minimum temperature 24.1 degrees Celsius was recorded at Bandarban.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am yesterday was recorded 57mm at Sylhet.
The sun sets at 6:50pm yesterday and rises at 5:11am today in the capital.
