Four more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 111 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 1,252 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 39,532 in 2026.
The fatalities, which included two men and two women, were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Chattogram and Khulna divisions, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 119 patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 194 in Chattogram division, 227 in Dhaka division, 101 under DNCC, 135 under DSCC, 247 in Khulna division, 87 in Mymensingh division, 109 in Rajshahi division, 27 in Rangpur division, and six in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 62% of infections so far this year, while women represent 38%.
Currently, 2,954 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
According to official data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in 2025.
In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths.
The previous year (2023) saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations.
