Mymensingh: A schoolteacher was killed after falling from a battery-run auto-rickshaw and being run over by another auto-rickshaw in the Dapunia area of Mymensingh Sadar on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Souji Sakhinara, 48, an assistant teacher at Dapunia D.K. Govern-ment Primary School.
Shibirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, said Sakhinara left her home in Mymensingh town in the morning and boarded a battery-run auto-rickshaw for her school.
Around 10am, she fell from the vehicle while it was travelling along the Mymensingh-Fulbaria road in Dapunia, the OC said.
At that time, another auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction ran over her, leaving her critically injured.
Locals rescued her and rushed her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors de-clared her dead.
On information, police recovered the body and handed it over to her family.
Police seized the auto-rickshaw and further legal proceedings are underway, the OC said.
