Law Minister says
BNP respects July Charter

A Correspondent:

Kushtia: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman yesterday said BNP respects the July Charter and likes to move forward in line with its principles.
“Statements made by the leaders of the NCP regarding the referendum are being made without full un-derstanding. They have only understood half of the issue. We will respond to their statements in the Na-tional Parliament. We aim to proceed by taking both emotion and the law together,” he said while talk-ing to journalists after inaugurating the canal excavation programme at Moragacha-Hashimpur in Khoksa upazila, Kushtia.
The minister said the BNP government will excavate 20,000 kilometres of rivers and canals across the country and evict illegal occupants. On the issue of pending cases, the minister said, “We will hold dis-cussions with all parties and take decisions on these cases based on everyone’s opinions.”
Presided over by deputy commissioner Mahbubul Alam, the program was also addressed by Kushtia-1 lawmaker Reza Ahmed Bacchu, Kushtia-4 lawmaker Afzal Hussain, former lawmaker Syed Mehedi Ahmed Rumi and Kushtia Zila Parishad Administrator Principal Sohrab Uddin, among others.
