‘Govt to foil all conspiracies’

Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain yesterday said the present interim government along with the people would foil the local and foreign conspiracies against the country.
“A vested quarter inside and outside the country is trying to destroy our religious harmony and fish in troubled waters. All conspiracies will be thwarted out with the help of the countrymen. No conspiracy will be allowed to succeed,” he said.
The adviser was addressing a reception given to the meritorious students organized by Baufal Founda-tion, Dhaka at the Multipurpose Hall of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) in Kakrail here.
Describing Bangladesh as a secular country, the adviser said, “People of different religions, castes and creeds live in our beloved mother land where everybody is enjoying his/her constitutional rights.”
“People of all religions are practicing their own religious rituals freely,” he said adding that everyone would continue to practice religious rituals without any hindrance in future.
Dr. Khalid also said that the government through proper investigation would bring the conspirators to justice whether they are individuals or groups,
He said the interim government is moving towards a national election. The Election Commission has already been reconstituted and the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners have taken oath,” he noted.
He said the voter list will be updated alongside taking measures for holding a free, fair and impartial election.
The Advisor said that the culture of must bring back and the interim government would hand over the responsibility to elect people.
“We will pave the way for those who will take charge of running the state in future,” he added.
Some 20 talented individuals, 120 talented students and six families of martyrs were felicitated in the program.
Chairman of Baufal Foundation Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud presided over the program and former Joint Secretary Rafiqul Islam and Abdul Haque, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The advisor later visited the central office of Bangladesh Jamiyat-Ahl-AL Hadith and Madrasah Mu-hammadia Arabia in North Jatrabari.
