The World Malaria Day will be observed in the country today as elsewhere across the globe with the theme “Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world.”
The World Malaria Day, which was instituted by the World Health Assembly at its 60th session in May 2007, is a day for recognizing the global efforts to control malaria.
In Bangladesh, different organizations have chalked out various programs to mark the day. Awareness programs will be taken for controlling the malaria disease.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) sources said three CHT districts — Bandarban, Rang-amati and Khagrachari — are the most malaria-infected region in the country.
As CHT is a malaria-prone region of the country, the authorities has given special attention in three CHT districts to make the region malaria-free.
Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease that continues to have a devastating impact on the health and livelihood of people around the world.
