RAB detains 9 for black marketing of train tickets

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained nine people including two officials of Shohoz, the company responsible for managing Bangladesh Railway’s e-ticketing system, for their alleged involvement in black marketing train tickets.

RAB detained them from city’s Kamalapur and Sabujbagh areas while conducting a joint drive with the National Security Intelligence (NSI) on Thursday night.

The matter was disclosed to the journos during a RAB press briefing at its Media Centre in the capital’s Karwan Bazar.

The detainees were identified as Mizan Dhali, 48, peon of Shohoz and also the alleged kingpin of the syndicate; his nephew Sohel Dhali, 30; Shohoz’s server operator Newton Biswas, 40; Md Sumon, 39; Sabur Hawlader, 40, Jahangir Alam, 49; Shahjalal Hossain, 42; Md Rasel, 24; and Joynal Abedin, 46.

RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Assistant Director (Media Officer) ASP Al-Amin said nine members of a ticket black marketing group, including Mizan Dhali, who is one of the founders of the train ticket black marketing group, have been detained.

The joint force also recovered illegally collected train tickets, eight mobile phones, and different elements of black marketing from the detainees during the drive, Al Amin added.
