Savar: Police have arrested four people, including Awami League and Krishak League leaders, for al-leged involvement in post-election violence in Savar.
They were arrested in raids at different places on Wednesday night, said Akbar Ali Khan, officer-in-charge of Savar Police Station.
Earlier, 10 supporters of the boat and eagle symbols were injured during a clash at Katlapur in the mu-nicipal area.
The arrestees are Abdul Halim, vice president of the Savar municipal Awami League; Faruk Hossain, organizing secretary of the municipal Krishak League; and Sayem Hossain Laden and Iqbal Hossain Sampad, supporters of the boat symbol.
OC Akbar Ali Khan said there were internal conflicts between the supporters of independent (eagle) and Awami League-nominated candidates (boat) in Katlapur sintering the 12th parliamentary election.
The clash took place when Abdul Halim sat down with both sides at his Katlapur shop at 9:00 pm on Wednesday to resolve the problem, he said.
Both sides used sticks and sharp weapons in their fight, he added.
Both sides filed separate cases at the police station at night in connection with the clash, the OC also said.
Four people have been arrested since the cases were registered. They were sent to court on Thursday.
