Ferry services resume after 11 hours

Manikganj: Ferry services on Aricha- Kazirhat route yesterday resumed after 10.50 hours suspension due to dense fog, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat sources said.
The ferry movement on the route was suspended at 11 pm on Tuesday due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river bed of Jamuna, Deputy General Manager (DGM) BIWTC Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz said.
Meanwhile the ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route was suspended for more than 9 hours from 11.30 pm on Tuesday to 8.35 am on Wednesday, Paturia Ghat sources said.
Five ferries Beer Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman, Rojoni Gandha, Khan Jahan Ali, Bonolota and Hasna Hena were stranded at Paturia Ghat, four ferries Beer Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, Beer Shreshtha Jahang-ir, Enayetpuri and Korobi were at Daulatdia Ghat and four other ferries Shah Keramat Ali, Shah Poran, Golam Moula and Dhaka with vehicles and passenger were anchored in the middle of the river Padma.
BIWTC Paturia Ghat sources said the ferry movement on Aricha-Kazirhat became normal at 9.50 am and on Paturia-Daulatdia route at 8.35 am yesterday.
