A supporter show-caused

Staff Reporter:

The Electoral Enquiry Committee on Monday served a show-cause notice to Zafar Ullah Titu, a support-er of an Independent candidate of Chattogram-3 (Sandwip upazila) constituency Dr Md Jamaluddin Chowdhury for breaching the electoral code of conduct.
According to the notice, signed by the chairman of the Committee for the constituency and Chattogram Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahidul Islam, the supporters of the Independent candi-date Dr Md Jamaluddin Chowdhury brought out a procession at Kalapani union of Sandwip upazila on December 30.
During the procession—-Titu through a loudspeaker said “I am a supporter of Awami League and al-ready AL won the election as there is no rival candidate in 167 parliamentary seats against Awami League. So AL is forming the next government.”
The EC committee found him using evil tactics to influence the independent candidate and trying to foil the parliamentary elections through the statement.
The accused candidate was asked to respond in person or by his representative at 6:05 on January 2.
