Manikganj: Ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia route has resumed after disruption of six hours on Tuesday due to dense fog.
Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Patu-ria Ghat Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz yesterday said the ferry movement was suspended around 2 am yesterday due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river root of Padma.
During the period, six ferries– Golam Mawla, Shah Poran, Beer Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman, Bhasha Shoinik Barkot, Hasna Hena and Loboni– were anchored at Paturia Ghat and four ferries– Beer Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, Rojoni Gandha, Korobi and Shah Keramat Ali– were at Daulatdia Ghat while Beer
Shreshtha Jahangir, Khan Jahan Ali, Shah Enayetpuri and Faridpur were stranded at the middle of the Padma river loaded with vehicles and passengers.
The ferry movement resumed at 8 am when the fog was disappeared, he added.
Meanwhile, ferry movement on the Aricha-Kazirhat route was also suspended around 12.40 am to 8.30 am due to dense fog, the BIWTC sources said.
