Staff Reporter:

Ahead of the 12th parliamentary elections slated for January 7, the Home Ministry has imposed a complete ban on licence holders from carrying and displaying firearms till January 9.

A gazette notification signed by Israt Jahan, deputy secretary of the ministry, was issued in this regard on Thursday (Dec 21).

The decision was taken to conduct the upcoming national elections “in a free, fair, and peaceful manner”, said the notification.

“Action would be taken against the violators according to The Arms Act 1878,” it added.
