Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday congratulated Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on becoming the new Emir of the State of Kuwait, said an official release of the Prime Minister’s press wing.
“On behalf of the People and the Government of Bangladesh and my own behalf, I have the great pleas-ure of extending to Your Highness our heartiest congratulations on your assumption of office of the Emir of the State of Kuwait,” she said in a signed letter addressed to the new Emir.
The Premier said that, “Your accession to this highest position is a testimony to the confidence reposed in your sagacity and dynamic leadership by the brotherly people of Kuwait.”
She said that Bangladesh and Kuwait have been enjoying excellent bilateral relations since the inception of the diplomatic ties in 1973.
“The bilateral cooperation is marked by the brotherhood and friendship, which has flourished over the years, covering many fields, including employment of human resources, trade, investment, development, defense, and energy cooperation,” she said.
Expressing her satisfaction over the existing relations, she said, “As you embark upon your new respon-sibilities, I assure Your Highness and the People of the State of Kuwait of continued support and collab-oration from the Government of Bangladesh in the coming days.”
Mentioning that given your pro-people and visionary leadership, as demonstrated while serving in vari-ous vital capacities for the nation, she said, “I am confident that under your guidance and supervision, our two
brotherly countries will be able to expedite and strengthen the existing synergies to the optimum level in all vistas of bilateral and multilateral engagements.”
The Prime Minister wished the new Emir’s continued good health, happiness, and success in the coming days and looked forward to closely working with him for a shared future of progress and prosperity.
