Metro rail: DU, Bijoy Sarani stations to open on 13 Dec

Staff Reporter:

Two more metro rail stations at Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani will be opened to the public on 13 December on the Uttara-Motijheel route.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique came up with the announcement at a press conference on Thursday.

The authorities would start operations at Karwan Bazar and Shahbagh stations within January, he added.

The Mass Rapid Transit Line 6 project, popularly known as metro rail, was opened to the public on the Uttara-Agargaon route in the first phase on 29 December last year amid huge enthusiasm.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina launched the country’s first-ever electricity-powered rail system on 28 December.

She inaugurated the second phase of the metro rail’s Agargaon to Motijheel services on 4 November this year.
