Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar commercial train starts running today

Cox’s Bazar: Commercial train services on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route starts running from today (De-cember 1), Bangladesh Railways office said.
Today (Friday) at 12:30 pm, the dream and much awaited train will travel on Dhaka-Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route. All kinds of preparations already have been completed.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially inaugurated the railway project at the newly constructed iconic station in Cox’s Bazar on November 11. After the inauguration, the railway department has completed all the necessary work, including scheduling of trains.
Cox’s Bazar Iconic Railway Station in-charge Station Master Golam Raboani said, “All preparations for commercial train movement have been completed. The first train with 780 passengers will leave for Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar station today at 12:30 pm. On the other hand, another train will depart from Dhaka with the same number of passengers at 10:30 pm.”
He said that two trains will run on this route for now. The train will leave Cox’s Bazar at 12:30 pm. It will reach Dhaka via Chattogram at 9:10 pm. On the other hand, the train will leave Dhaka at 10:30 pm. It will reach Cox’s Bazar at 7.20 am the next day.
He also said that the train will have 330 seats with air-conditioned AC compartments and 450 seats in non-AC compartments. Two coaches will be scheduled for Chattogram passengers.
On this route, the fare of the AC Snigdha class has been set at Taka 1,325. Non-AC Shovan class fare is Taka 695. AC fare from Cox’s Bazar to Chattogram is Taka 470 and non-AC Taka 250, he added.
People have been crazy with huge enthusiasm for the newly built Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar rail route. All the advance tickets on the route for December 10 have been sold. The rail route will enhance tourism in Cox’s Bazar where tourists can enjoy sea and hill at a time.
